Payment and Refund Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

Scope of the Policy and the Products or Services It Covers

This Payment and Refund Policy applies to all payments made for courses and related services offered by shimmerra. These services include specialised training in live production decks and control rooms, covering multi-camera switching, live broadcasting techniques, real-time video operation, and professional management of television and streaming productions. The policy covers both in-person and online course formats delivered to customers in the United Kingdom. It does not extend to third-party services or products purchased separately from our offerings.

Prices, Currencies, Taxes, and Any Additional Charges

All prices are listed in British Pounds Sterling (GBP) and include value added tax (VAT) at the prevailing UK rate unless otherwise stated. Additional charges may apply for optional extras such as certification materials or extended access periods. Prices are subject to change without notice, but confirmed bookings will honour the rate at the time of purchase. No hidden fees are applied beyond those disclosed during the booking process.

Accepted Payment Methods, Payment Authorisation, and Payment Security

We accept major credit and debit cards, bank transfers, and secure online payment gateways compliant with UK standards. Payment authorisation occurs immediately upon submission of booking details. All transactions are processed through encrypted systems to protect cardholder data in line with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards. shimmerra does not store full payment card details.

Order, Booking, or Service Confirmation and When a Contract Is Formed

A contract is formed when you receive a written confirmation email following successful payment. This confirmation outlines the course details, schedule, and terms. Until this point, no binding agreement exists. Bookings are confirmed only after full payment or approved deposit where applicable for longer programmes.

Cancellation Rights and Applicable Cancellation Periods

Under UK consumer law, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of contract formation for distance sales. This allows cancellation without reason. For digital content or services that begin within this period, the right may be lost once delivery commences with your consent. Cancellations must be notified in writing to [email protected].

Refund Eligibility, Exclusions, and Non-Refundable Items or Services

Refunds are available for cancellations within the cooling-off period or where services are not delivered as described. Exclusions apply to courses already attended, downloaded materials, or promotional offers marked as non-refundable. Deposits for customised training sessions are non-refundable once scheduling has occurred.

The Step-by-Step Procedure and Information Required to Request a Refund

To request a refund, email [email protected] with your order number, full name, contact details, and reason for the request. Include any supporting evidence such as confirmation emails. Requests must be submitted within the applicable time limits. Our team will acknowledge receipt within five working days.

Inspection, Approval, Rejection, and Notification of the Refund Decision

Each request undergoes review for eligibility based on policy terms and UK regulations. Approval or rejection is communicated via email within 14 days of receipt. If rejected, reasons and any alternative options are provided. You may appeal once with additional information.

Refund Method, Processing Time, and When Funds Should Reach the Customer

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. Processing takes up to 14 working days, though bank transfers may vary by provider. Funds typically appear in your account within 5 to 10 working days after processing begins, subject to your financial institution.

Special Rules for Digital Content, Subscriptions, Services, or Promotional Offers Where Relevant

Digital course materials are non-refundable once accessed or downloaded. Subscription-based access ends immediately upon cancellation, with no pro-rata refunds for partial periods. Promotional bundles are treated as single units and refunded only if the entire package qualifies.

Failed Payments, Duplicate Charges, Chargebacks, and Suspected Fraud

Failed payments must be resolved within seven days to maintain booking validity. Duplicate charges are investigated and refunded automatically upon detection. Chargebacks are handled in accordance with card issuer rules, and suspected fraud results in immediate account suspension pending verification via 01494 671234.

Mandatory Consumer Rights in the Target Country That the Policy Cannot Exclude

This policy does not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, and UK GDPR. These include rights to goods and services of satisfactory quality and the ability to seek remedies for breaches that cannot be limited by contract.
